The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the terror attacks in Manchester last night where two suicide bombers detonated explosives in the secure area of the Manchester Arena, killing 22 people (many children) and wounding fifty others. The explosives contained nails and screws resulting in most of the injuries.
“With guidance from Allah, … one of the soldiers of the Caliphate was able to place explosive devices amidst a gathering of Crusaders in the British city of Manchester,” read the Isis report. “What is coming is tougher and worse for the worshipers of the Cross and their helpers.”
ISIS claimed that the attack was revenge for “transgressions” against Muslims.
When I first heard the news I wasn’t surprised. Honestly was anyone? It’s just like ISIS to go after children, to rip innocence away from the young and the weak in acts of unholy cowardice. This is nothing new or out of character for them. But it’s quite interesting to hear the wording that was used in their proclamation of victory.
First and foremost it’s vital to understand what ISIS wants. ISIS relies on rich Islamic mythology citing from Islamic texts to claim that they are the true heirs to their prophet Mohammed. They use these texts to frame their actions in the context of an ongoing conflict with the “Crusaders” as you can see was referenced in the statement ISIS released this morning.
ISIS wants its followers to believe that they are the remnant of their Muslim brothers who hundreds of years ago fought in the holy crusades against the Christians of the 12th century. In 2015, ISIS made this clear when they executed 21 Coptic Christians in Egypt and declared “A Message Signed In Blood to the Nation of the Cross.” That just about sums it up there. ISIS is enacting the purest form of jihad.
This is Islam at its strictest–at its most rigid. But does it hold true to Islamic teachings? After all people will claim that Islam at its core is a religion of peace and that the actions of a few are not indicative of the whole. And while I would agree that there are many peaceful practicing Muslims, they are not practicing to the letter of the law. Whose law? Allah’s law and his prophet Mohammed.
Let’s examine the evidence.
The following are texts taken directly from the Koran that endorse violence upon infidels or non-believers. It doesn’t get much clearer than this:
Quran (3:151) – “Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority”.
Quran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.”
Quran (2:191-193) – “And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killing… but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone.
Here we see that the Koran does not condemn terrorism, rather it endorses and encourages it. Pay special attention to the first verse–the part where it says “Soon we shall cast terror.”
It doesn’t speak any clearer than that. But why would anyone be surprised? It was Mohammed himself who ordered the beheading of hundreds of Christians while he and his 12 year old wife watched. And these monsters–these savage warriors of the Islamic state are doing nothing but following their prophet’s wish; his last command: to kill us wherever they find us and to kill until there is no more disbelief.
Crusaders. They call us crusaders. They literally stated that the children they slaughtered at a pop concert just last evening were crusaders and that what they got is what they deserved because of the Cross of Jesus Christ.
This isn’t just about good and evil. This isn’t just about derangement and fanaticism. This is religious devotion of the most deadly kind– a religion that is slipping through the cracks of our country, our social fabric, our morality, and our world. We cry “Peace! Peace! Peace!” But Islam does not know peace. The word “Islam” means submission. Until we realize that we will continue to submit until we reach our bitter end.
